Long Tail Keywords – Can you find them with Keyword Strategy?

Picture of pagode in Myanmar Burma

Lis published a few days ago an article with the catchy title >Right Keywords + Right Platform = Cash!<, where she advocated to use another, additional, tool to Keyword Strategy in order to find long tail keywords, that is keyword phrases that are longer than three words. I disagreed, we do disagree often by the way, but we are still friends, at least I hope so

I have no clue about Myanmar, but I do know a lot about Prague – and how to use the Keyword Strategy Tool

So I offered a proof, and run into a major problem, her seed keywords were ‘Myanmar Travel‘ and I have no idea about the locations and geography of that part of the world. I simply didn’t know if a certain exotic name is that of a town in Myanmar or that of a beach . . . → Read More: Long Tail Keywords – Can you find them with Keyword Strategy?

Making Money Online 2011 2012 – What has changed?

make-money-online-2011-2012

My personal take on making money online in 2011 and what I plan to do in 2012 and what not.

Seems it is this time of the year You know that time when all, or nearly all, internet marketers publish their yearly review and make their firm resolutions what they will do better next year Actually I didn’t plan to do this, but as it seems to be a sort of tradition in the MMO world, who am I to swim against the stream So here my take on 2011 and my resolutions for 2012:

Making Money Online 2011 Review

1. Adsense: Pretty much stable, Hubpages took a dip, some of my own sites improved, especially the German ones, income pretty much the same or slightly rising over that of the past year.

2. Amazon: Nice, nice, very nice year for me on Amazon! Compared to 2010 my income . . . → Read More: Making Money Online 2011 2012 – What has changed?

With the New Year approaching I thought it might be an idea to do a case study on Keyword Strategy by taking a domain I own, but never did anything with, put a site on it and document and publish the sites development in terms of traffic and income. Don’t die of the shock just yet, I really did say I will, for the first time ever, publish my income publicly – but only for this one site If you want to get a monthly ‘make money online income report’, >sign up to Lis’ Z-blogger newsletter on her site< – Well worth it, btw!

With this case study I hope to accomplish several things:

Keeping me focused. That is perhaps my biggest internet marketing challenge – to rinse . . . → Read More: Keyword Strategy Case Study 1 – My Set Up

Article Samurai Opens Again – Should You Buy?

Market not Article Samurai

Market Samurai is a good product, Article Samurai is — NOT!!!

Hi guys and gals, I just got the ‘priority email’ aka ‘don’t miss this super-duper chance that comes around only once in your lifetime (Not!)’ that Article Samurai opens again and that begs the question: Should you buy it or NOT!? Like I wrote in my previous post here >Article Samurai or Spamurai?‘ I consider this type of internet marketing and attempt at SEO sooo pre-Panda! And no, imho, save your money also this time round and don’t buy it! Why you ask? I still hold to what I stated previously:

Cheap article marketing, especially one that uses / promotes, spun content, is an absolute No-No since the latest Panda / Farmer Update that Google implemented.

Methods like this add no value whatsoever to your own websites nor to the internet as . . . → Read More: Article Samurai Opens Again – Should You Buy?

The Real Reason Google Fights Web Spam

Sorry, couldn't find anything more appropriate to illustrate this article about web spam. Image in the public domain, if Google objects against using their logo in an editorial piece (fair use assumed), they know where to find me

Ok, gals and guys, that will be another of this long-winded and far too in-depth posts, so please pour yourself something nice to drink and take a few minutes out of your busy life For the purpose of making it a bit easier to understand, I skip those parts of Google that have little to do with internet marketing like Android (OS for mobile devices) and concentrate on those that concern those of us that make money online: Adsense, Adwords and Search. First let’s have a look at what Google actually is and then let’s have a look at bigger picture of what Google actually wants – and why! And . . . → Read More: The Real Reason Google Fights Web Spam

Keyword Strategy Tips 1 – How To Clean Up a Messed Up, sorry, an Established Site

Keyword Strategy Welcome Screen

Keyword Strategy Welcome Screen – Click to enter!

Lets face it, we all have them, sites that we love, that are old, at least in the terms of the internet, and that don’t perform as we think they should in the SERPentines. Or you have a site that used to do well, but suffered during the last panda updates. Reason being for both is that these sites come from the times when we haven’t had a clue about how to write reader-focused and keyword-focused content at the same time. If your site targets the same keyword with multiple posts, also called overlapping content, this can give it the look of a ‘content farm’ in Google’s eyes! There are two ways of solving this dilemma, ditch the site and start from scratch or try to save the site taking advantage of the content that is already indexed and ranking. . . . → Read More: Keyword Strategy Tips 1 – How To Clean Up a Messed Up, sorry, an Established Site

Which Aweber Alternative Should I Choose?

Aweber Alternative Image

To build an email list or not to build an email list, that is here the question!

Lis from >>>Passive Income<<< and I have a lot in common, no wonder, we started our internet marketing journey around the same time Like her I have contemplated on and off about adding an email list to the ‘mix’ and like her I was very reluctant to do so, perhaps for different reasons, but still. This morning I found her latest blog post in my inbox, entitled >>>’An Apology – I Need To Come Clean – A C-List Blogger Is Born‘<<< which describes her reasons to add an email list sign-up form to her blog and an rather unnecessary apology. Like always, it makes for a good read and the comments are also interesting.

Now here my email list dilemma: Around four or five times a year comes . . . → Read More: Which Aweber Alternative Should I Choose?

Keyword Strategy Review

As I have mentioned the Keyword Strategy Tool aka the Fraser Method already several times on this blog, without explaining it much, I thought it might be a good idea to write a proper review about it and use that to point people to instead of repeating myself over and over again in the comments or on Facebook … So here you go and, as nearly always, pour yourself something nice to sip as this will be a longish blog post BTW, if your approach to website building is to find a keyword that might pay well, build a website with a few dozen posts / pages about it that consist mainly of content you found on the internet and have re-written to make it ‘unique’ and then to build back links to your site until you die, this method is not for you. Have a look at some . . . → Read More: Keyword Strategy Review

Keyword Tool Down! What Now?

Google revoked access to their Adwords API for literally hundreds of developers and applications on the 12th September. Here is what Google said about this:

“We have done this to ensure quality, improve Google products and services and compliance with Adwords API Terms and Conditions.”

Developers have to reapply for their tokens and it can take 5 to 6 weeks before they are re-approved, if they are, that’s it! My personal suspicion is that Google did this to reduce the amount of webspam created with this kind of tools, you know, the good old ‘find profitable keyword, buy exact match domain, write some crappy content and promote the heck out of it’ approach. I really doubt that Google is eager that the information that is meant for Adwords advertisers is used in this way, but that might just me being suspicious …

So your favorite keyword tool is . . . → Read More: Keyword Tool Down! What Now?

Seems SBI and Ken Evoy are on the Google War Path

Back in 2009 a certain SBI review made some waves in parts of the internet marketing world. You can read it here >>> SBI<<<, but before you hit the link and start to read it (and the comments!) I suggest strongly to pour yourself a big glass or cup of something, it will be a long read If you don’t want to read the whole saga, here a summary:

SBI or Site Build It! is a membership site that helps people to build up and maintain their own internet based business. The good point about them is, that they take people by the hand and walk them through all the steps and that they provide all the tools, website builders etc that are needed to achieve this. The bad point is, that people will have to stay with them, and continue to pay, a whooping $299 per year . . . → Read More: Seems SBI and Ken Evoy are on the Google War Path

Seems Google went Primal ;-)

Internet marketers and SEO specialists have learned over the last few days a hard lesson: It is not a human right to get your site ranked favorably by Google The IM community was buzzing since the latest search algorithm update, both with gossip, as well as with interpretations. Here a few voices (links will open in new tab): The Gentle Grizzly from far up north stresses two points: Suspicious link profiles (often obtained via content farms and article directories) and notoriously spammy niches, such as payday loans, weight loss etc that can bring danger to your website.

The less gentle Mark Knowles criticizes the lower quality of the search results AFTER the update with this pungent hub “Help Google is Broken” And he is right, even before the mayhem and uproar on the forums broke loose, I already noticed that Google’s search results have gotten considerably . . . → Read More: Seems Google went Primal ;-)

Build My Rank BMR Opens Again

For everybody that has been ‘sitting on the fence’, here the good news: BuildMyRank is open again and accepts new clients. In case you wonder what all the hype is about, BuildMyRank is a link building service that works and that has been closed to new customers for the last two months. Differently to other link building services, ‘BuildMyRank‘ offers the opportunity to post articles with in context links on their own websites that adhere to Google’s ‘content against links’ policy. And it is as good and effective as it gets, when it comes to creating back links for niches that normally don’t attract organic back links. I tried them out before they closed the doors, and was very pleased with the results, both in rankings as well as in on what kind of sites my links appeared.

There are two ways of using their services, . . . → Read More: Build My Rank BMR Opens Again

Keyword Academy is lowering prices!

Update 28th January 2012: I am not recommending TKA anymore, for the reason please see this blog post >Idea Theft<.

Update 27th July 2010: Even their trial month is now completely free, they just waived the $1 fee for the first month!

Back in April when I read on Lissie’s Blog that The Keyword Academy was about to increase their monthly subscription fee from $33 to $67, it was for me the last push I needed to join them in order to benefit from the lower price. This morning I received an email saying that this monthly fee has been reduced again to the old price of $33. So, why am I writing about all this when, in fact, it doesn’t affect me at all? Lets look first at what The Keyword Academy (TKA) actually is, what it offers, what it does well and what it does . . . → Read More: Keyword Academy is lowering prices!
