The seven virtues applied to blogging

Prudence and diligence Prudence for a blogger means to research well and verify the information you are about to publish. Being prudent means to be responsible for ones actions. Be careful how you use language, keep it clean. Have a work ethic, budget your time and efforts, don’t ever become lazy.

Humility Don’t be convinced that you, and you alone, know the whole truth. No human being is in possession of the whole truth, acknowledge that when blogging. Acknowledge also the efforts and achievements of others.

Patience Be patient, with yourself and with your readers. Some things take time, some things take even more time. Practice self discipline, don’t blog when you are angry, be moderate in what you write. Keep and promote peace and peaceful actions, don’t promote or use any kind of hate speech / blogging.

Courage Write about what you believe in, what you can endorse and what you can stand behind. Don’t be afraid of anybody and anything, apart of your own conscience. Be brave and respect others bravery. Respect is the key to somebody’s heart and friendship. Value your friends.

Faith Believe in yourself and others. Trust yourself and others, remember every human has something good in him or herself, be it as small as a sand corn or as big as a mountain.

Hope Never give up hope, it is what keeps us going. Hope is one of the strongest motivation known to mankind. Give hope to others and encourage them.

Love Love, Kindness and Charity. Don’t forget that giving is better than taking. Give frequently and fully hearted, give selfless and unconditionally, without expecting anything in return. Be kind, kindness gets you to places where nothing else will get you to, apart love. Be generous in giving and don’t keep count on how much you have given and how much you have received. Just give.

Patience is a virtue

The eight virtue: Justice Be just to everybody, recognize when you are wrong and admit it, but more important, acknowledge when others are right.

  • A huge part of blogging is patience!!! The other virtues are all very important but I can not stress enough patience. It will come if you work hard and give it time!

I agree entirely, too many people want to get rich over night, with minimal effort involved. I always remember the old saying “Success is 10% talent and 90% work!” SY

  • Agreed, it can take months for a blog to finally become worth it.

  • If I’m to pick only two out of the eight (which is really pointless as you need them all…lol) I would pick courage and patience. Courage because a lot of people don’t know how to start or are afraid to start. One needs courage to jump into action and start blogging. Then patience as it could take a long time for one to see positive results with blogging.

    P.S.
Here’s a little story about virtue:

A supervisor, manager, and the director are walking to
lunch when they find an antique oil lamp.

They rub it and a Genie comes out.
The Genie says, “I’ll give each of you just one wish..”

“˜Me first! Me first!” says the supervisor. “˜I want to be in the
Bahamas, driving a speedboat, without a care in the world.”

    Puff! She’s gone.

“Me next! Me next!” says the manager. “˜I want to be in Hawaii ,
relaxing on the beach with my personal masseuse, an endless supply of
Pina Coladas and the love of my life.”

    Puff! He’s gone.

“OK, you’re up,” the Genie says to the director.
The director says, “˜I want those two back in the office after lunch.”

    Moral of the story:
Always let your boss have the first say. LOL

So true, there are no “get rich over night schemes” apart for the ones that sell them.

    @Terry
Best story I heard in a long time 😉 Glad I don’t have a director above me anymore!!! SY

  • You really do have to have faith in yourself when you are a blogger! People can leave comments that sound rude, so it’s very easy to get insecure. Besides, people love to argue on blogs, so it is best not to take it personal.

And a thick skin, lol, SY

  • Making money online through blogging isn’t a easy task & there are misconceptions regarding this to many people out there. I think Faith & Patience are the most important factors for a blogger. If one has a faith in himself, I think he’s ready to do anything & it’s obvious that you will not be famous over night, it takes time so having patience is really important. I agree with your ideas & really appreciate your work. Thanks for sharing it 🙂

Very well said, so many people believe in the “get rich over night” fairy tale but don’t believe in themselves, SY

It really makes a difference when you are writing on a topic that interests you. You wont find the day passing if you are passionateabout your topic. As for those guys selling “get rich quick” schemes, if they truly worked they should be blissfully retired instead of trying to flog them to the likes of me and you.

Did you read the blog post? Your comment has precious little to do with it, it is true what you say, but it really doesn’t relate to the original blog post, SY

  • Thank you so much for sharing this. I took so much inspiration from you and Presentation Zen when creating my site many moons ago, and it’s great to see more roads to improvement and better readership! You and your blog here are awesome!

  • I would really like to add dedication and perseverance, both of them are needed to become successful in the field of blogging. Without dedication, it might seem that we don’t like what we are doing.

  • Blogging can really make you rich if you have these virtues.
